Director General/ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be reporting to the EACA Board.
The European Association of Communications Agencies (EACA) is the Brussels-based voice of Europe’s communications agencies and associations, promoting the economic and social contribution of commercial communications to society. EACA’s members comprise advertising, media, digital, branding and PR agencies as well as national associations – together, they represent more than 2,500 organisations from more than 30 European countries that directly employ over 120,000 people.
EACA seeks to fill the Director General/ CEO position. As the association’s leader, the Director General/CEO will collaborate with members to establish its vision, industry and policy priorities and ensure that EACA effectively conveys its mission. On behalf of members, he/she will engage with the advertising ecosystem and legislators as the leading voice of the communications industry. He/she will work under the responsibility of a president elected for 2 years renewable once and a Board of Directors.
The successful candidate’s key responsibility is to:
Governance and leadership
- Develop and advise the Board and membership on the association’s long-term strategy, strategic options, and action plans, together with the president
- Provide leadership and direction, delivering on all core areas of the developed work plan.
- Conduct governance meetings (Board, Management Committee, General Assembly), including securingand managing the association budget.
- Represent EACA in internal or external industry meetings and events together with the president
- Act as the key spokesperson for EACA in public and with the press, together with the president
- Maintain, nurture and develop relations with European and international partner organisations andnetworks.
- Develop an outreach strategy to develop membership from both national associations and industrynetworks and agencies
Members Collaboration
- Supervise/Support the EACA team with EACA’s Councils and Task Forces.
- Supervise/Support the organisation of the respective meetings (virtual/physical) with senior agencyrepresentatives.
- In close coordination with the Council & Task Force Chairs, supervise/support to co-run the meetingsand contribute to the high-level industry discussions.
- Identify potential areas and topics for industry thought leadership pieces/initiatives/task forces andimplement activities closely with the members.
- Oversee, develop & enhance the membership participation in the Association’s activities.
- Foster strong relationships with and among EACA members.
- Supervise/Support the team in the planning and organisation of EACA’s annual meetings, Effie EuropeAwards and Best Practice Awards.
- Work in close collaboration with the Senior Legal and Policy Advisor to effectively influence relevant EUpolicy files
Association Management
- Make sure the organisation complies with the governance, financial and legal requirements.
- Comply with all policies and procedures that foster best governance practices as a non-profitorganisation.
- Ensure effective management of all staff members to maintain a motivated team
We are looking for the following qualities and competencies
- Experience in a leadership role and team management
- Be passionate and knowledgeable about the communications industry (industry experience is a must)
- Understanding relevant policy files for the communications industry is a plus
- Excellent networking, negotiation and diplomatic skills (an established network in the communicationsindustry is a plus)
- Experience in Financial and Budget Management
- Service-oriented approach towards members from multiple countries
- High attention to detail and quality
- Strategic thinking and planning
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to motivate and lead a team of 10 people
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Experience in representing an organisation towards external audiences
- Experience in public speaking
- Experience in handling media relations
- Experience in project management
- Excellent command of spoken and written English is a must; any additional EU language is a plus
- Excellent command of standard Microsoft Office tools
- Graduated preferably in business administration, management, international affairs or similar
